I was searching through some really old postings in this group sci.lang,
and I found the name of Jacques Guy (*1944-11-23), a French linguist
living in Australia since 1968. His last contribution of which I am aware
is from 2005. Does anybody know what has become of him? Is he still alive
(would be at age 80)?

He is apparently still alive and still in Australia. He has a Wikipedia
article. There have been several edits in 2022–2023, but unfortunately
none of them add any biographical information.

I used to enjoy his posts and I was sorry when the flow dried up.
