1 February 1884: the first volume of "A New English Dictionary
On Historical Principles." (renamed to "Oxford English Dictionary"
in 1933) is published.

That would be the first fascicle (A-Ant), published 29/1 in UK and 1/2
in US.

Not until 1888 did they have enough fascicles to make a "volume" (A-B).
