in *classical* arabic /hbl/ has other meanings, I have not been able to
find it in *classical* dictionaries, but it seems to be acceptable in
MSA (Wehr, al-munjid). the form found in classical, as well as MSA, is
'ablah(u)

I dont know Arabic, but there is a similar word (probably slang) called
"Ahabal" in Hebrew (it probably came from Arabic), which means "stupid"
or "dumb", I believe it is one and the same as Ahablu in Arabic.

NB.

it's not "Ahablu" in arabic. it's 'ahbal . -u is a case ending of the
literary language. the word is listed as levantine colloquial by
Frayha, which is where modern hebrew seesm to have obtained it.
