Unless the claim is that they evolved there, they came from elsewhere. If there was any species even remotely hominid there before them, they were invaders,
Ahem, the first people in a place are not invaders. Only second, third, etc.
influxes of people can be invasions. So, they don't need to have evolved
there; all that is necessary is that they found no other people already
settled there when they arrived.
